This extremely practical event will provide teachers, principals and support staff with advice, resources and strategies for understanding and responding to the challenges of student behaviour, building resilience and promoting positive behaviour and learning in schools and classrooms.
The Behaviour Clinic will combine a presentation with a workshop forum which will give participants the opportunity to discuss real-life issues experiences and receive practical advice and evidence-based solutions.
Topics will include:
• Introduction to behaviour,
• What are we talking about?
• Who are we talking about?
• Pathways and origins of challenging behaviour
• Building Resilience and the power of positive emotion - guiding principles
• Common errors & key skills in working with students

| Description: |
This short course focuses on practical skills and ideas for using ICT in the teaching and learning of languages. The skills covered can be used in the teaching of Gaeilge, English, EAL and modern languages. It features various types of software/websites and their uses in the language lesson. Teachers are enabled to develop content and to show pupils how they can create their own content. The majority of the websites and software used are free to access and suit schools with varying ICT infrastructures, from one computer in the classroom to a suite of computers in the school. In addition, much of what is covered in the course can be used with interactive whiteboards.

• Introduction: ICT in the Language Class

o Microsoft or Open Office

• Sourcing images on the internet
• How to Use Photo Story 3
• Storytelling and presentation software
• Digital comics
• Using Teacher’s Pet
Module 2
• Starting to use Audacity
• Podcasting for beginners
• Exploring other ideas
• Websites for the IWB
Prerequisites: Familiarity with downloading files. Be comfortable with basic ICT tasks (opening, editing, saving, closing files etc). Some experience of browsing the internet. |

| Description: |
The Project Maths Development Team, in conjunction with the NCTE, is running a series of workshops to support the integration of ICT into the teaching of mathematics. These introductory modules focus on the use of software to teach geometry, trigonometry and statistics. They will also include a short introduction to using a laptop with a data projector.
Target Audience:
These modules are aimed at Post Primary teachers of Mathematics who are interested in integrating ICT within their classroom.
Workshop 1:
• GeoGebra for Synthetic Geometry:
This covers the use of GeoGebra in the teaching of theorems, constructions and transformation geometry for both Junior Cert. and Leaving Cert. from Strand 2.
Workshop 2:
• GeoGebra for Co-ordinate Geometry:
This covers the use of GeoGebra in the teaching of co-ordinate geometry for both Junior Cert. and Leaving Cert. from Strand 2.
Workshop 3:
• GeoGebra for Trigonometry plus participants sharing their resources:
This covers the use of GeoGebra in the teaching of trigonometry for both Junior Cert. and Leaving Cert. from Strand 2.
Workshops 4 & 5:
Excel for teaching Statistics:
This covers the use of Excel in the teaching of statistics. It will deal with the production of relevant graphs and formulae for both Junior Cert. and Leaving Cert. from Strand 1.
Prerequisites:
Participants should be comfortable with basic ICT tasks, such as opening, editing, saving and closing files.
Participants who would like to attend a more introductory course in advance of the above modules should contact their local Education Centre to attend the ‘Introduction to PC’s and File Management’ module.
Geogebra is a free software package which can be downloaded from the Internet.
