SP26-25 Ideas for Teaching Sustainability and Climate Change in Junior Cycle Science

26TRA168 - Ideas for Teaching Sustainability and Climate Change in Junior Cycle Science

DATE :    Thursday, 8th January 2026
TIME :     7.00pm - 8.00pm
VENUE : Online

Target Audience : Junior Cycle Science Teachers

The introduction of the new Junior Cycle Science course in 2017 saw many science teachers teaching the topics of sustainability and climate change for the first time, with few resources. In this webinar, you will be presented with a variety of ideas for teaching these topics at Junior Cycle level, many of which you will be able to use in your science classroom tomorrow.

During this webinar I will:

  • Unpack the relevant learning outcomes so that you know exactly what you have to teach on these topics
  • Present hands-on investigations that students can carry out in your science
    classroom
  • Demonstrate data-analysis activities that can be used to develop students’ ability to interpret scientific evidence
  • Provide some ideas for project-based and cross-curricular activities that will engage students as you explore the topics of Sustainability and Climate Change with them
