SP235-22 BirdWatch Ireland - Birds Around The School Workshop For Primary Teachers
BirdWatch Ireland - Birds Around The School - Workshop For Primary Teachers
DATE: Monday, 17 January 2022
TIME: 7pm - 8pm
VENUE: Online Via Zoom
This webinar is designed to provide information about the birds that are typically found around school grounds, plus ways for the teachers to help their students to attract a greater diversity of species in, to feed them, to provide nesting opportunities for them and to monitor their progress.
You will also be introduced to two of BirdWatch Ireland's key 'citizen science' projects, namely the Irish Garden Bird Survey and Spring Alive, which have been designed to be run as classroom projects and which introduce pupils to the concept of carrying out biodiversity surveys and contributing data to assist a conservation charity.
As well as all that, teachers will be introduced to BirdWatch Ireland's Erasmus+ materials and lesson plans, which have been designed to help teachers to run bird-themed exercises in the classroom and school grounds. The materials for our latest Erasmus+ project, which is called Seeing the World through Nature, will be of special benefit to teachers who happen to have blind or visually impaired pupils in their classes, though will be highly useful to all other teachers also.
