SP26-135 Primary Literacy Leadership Network: Developing Literacy Across the Curriculum

Target Audience: Primary teachers with a post of responsibility for literacy (AP1, AP2, or non-positional)
This session will explore effective approaches to developing literacy across the curriculum, with a focus on how different subjects can meaningfully embed reading, writing, and communication skills.
It will also examine how subjects can work together to achieve outcomes, creating potential opportunities for collaboration among subject postholders.
Break out rooms will be used for 10 minutes at the end of the session to discuss the plenary session.
Bio of Presenters
Tina Ronan is a primary school teacher, now teaching 2nd class students at an international school in Italy. Having completed her Masters in Literacy Professional Practice at DCU Institute of Education in 2023, she is particularly interested in how disciplines such as maths can be approached through a literacy lens.
Emma Farragher is an Assistant Professor in Literacy Education at the DCU Institute of Education. She holds a Master’s in Literacy Professional Practice from Dublin City University and is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Education (EdD), specialising in creative literacies and professional learning.
