Target Audience: Primary and Post Primary Teachers

In this interactive webinar we will look at some specific strategies for developing reading skills of plurilingual learners.  Everyone will leave with a selection of strategies to use, adapt and reflect on their own effectiveness in their own context.  

The session will also address ways to create a supportive reading environment that values home languages and encourages students to bring their full linguistic repertoires into the classroom. 

Presenter - Kirsten Barrett

Kirsten Barrett is a Scottish primary school teacher.  She taught for 15 years in Scotland with a speciality of English as an Additional Language (EAL). During that time she has spoken at various events and is keen to continue fostering collaborative environments within the community.

Currently embarking on her Masters in Education at UCC, she is a keen reader of children’s books and a huge advocate for Reading for Pleasure.
