In this interactive webinar we will look at some specific strategies for supporting the language of maths for plurilingual learners. Maths is more than just numbers.
There can be a lot of language requited to access maths and an understanding of the key features of mathematical language is essential for learners. We will explore some strategies for making mathematical language accessible to all.
We will look at some case studies of specific examples and how best to support in those situations. Everyone will leave with strategies that they can adapt and use immediately.
Presenter - Kirsten Barrett
Kirsten Barrett is a Scottish primary school teacher. She taught for 15 years in Scotland with a speciality of English as an Additional Language (EAL). During that time she has spoken at various events and is keen to continue fostering collaborative environments within the community.
Currently embarking on her Masters in Education at UCC, she is a keen reader of children’s books and a huge advocate for Reading for Pleasure.
